Finally upgraded the previous 3GHz HP 8753D with a "newer" 6GHz model (with 002, 006, 010, and 011 options) from eBay.
And as an added bonus, I've acquired the pieces to turn it into a non-011 unit. I'll post back once the mod is complete.

For kicks, we tore down a popular BTLE (Bluetooth smart) module, the RF Digital RFD22301, which is based on the nRF51822. Pretty straightforward layout; wished they'd broken out a few more I/O. Note that the metal can has been removed.
They use a fractal-style antenna ... for cost savings, I'm not sure why they didn't go with an IFA, or maybe even a PIFA.
